CO2 is a highly effective, listed and approved three-dimensional fire extinguishing agent that can be professionally engineered to fit virtually any size machine and mist/dust collector system. CO2 will quickly penetrate all parts of the machine and collector to effectively suppress a deep-seated fire in seconds. CO2 is a non-conductive, non-corrosive gas which leaves no residue on the machine or workpiece, and will not contaminate expensive metalworking oils or fluids. In many cases a machine can be returned to service just minutes after a discharge.
Carbon Dioxide Benefits
Carbon dioxide suppresses fire without leaving behind any residues after discharge avoiding damage to sensitive equipment. With no agent clean up, there is less downtime after an incident. High pressure systems use individual storage cylinders—from 35 lb. (16 kg) to 120 lb. (54 kg) capacity each—that can be manifolded together for rapid simultaneous discharge. Cylinder valves can be opened automatically or manually and either locally or remotely using electric, pneumatic or mechanical valve actuators.
Properly designed carbon dioxide system will suppress Class A, B, and C hazards by displacing the air containing oxygen that supports combustion. Whatever the application, from cylinder to nozzle, each system can be custom-designed for specific fire hazards.

The system is listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada, and approved by Factory Mutual. Properly engineered and installed CO2 systems are designed to suppress Class A, B, and C fire hazards.
VANGUARD Engineered CO2 Fire Suppression Systems can be actuated by detection and control devices for automatic operation along with local and remote manual actuation. Additional appliances are incorporated to provide alarms, delay discharge, ventilation control, door closures, or other auxiliary shutdown or functions.
VANGUARD pre-engineered systems utilize the unique, flexible, pressurized detection tubing manufactured by FIRETRACE. The tubing can be easily routed inside the machine, collector and ventilation ductwork. Functioning as a multi-point linear pneumatic heat sensor, the tubing is designed to burst when exposed to a fire’s radiant heat, resulting in the release of the fire extinguishing agent.
